Dear Alumni and Friends,
Welcome, or welcome back, to the UCLA Center for Jewish Studies! If you have glanced at the calendar of events you know that we are a very active Center with over 50 lectures, symposia and conferences sponsored entirely with private support. Highlights this year included a symposium and exhibit on the art of Polish caricaturist Arthur Szyk; a forum on faith, justice and the academy; and an interdisciplinary conference in honor of renown Holocaust historian Professor Saul Friedländer. The Center also began a major new initiative, Mapping Jewish LA, in conjunction with the UCLA Library.
I hope you will want to stay in touch and remain involved in the life of the Center. We would be delighted to see you at any of our lectures, symposia or cultural events. To receive announcements of what is happening, comment on our website, or send us your news, please drop me at line at
. Your input is most welcome.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at a Center event soon!
Very sincerely yours,
Todd Samuel Presner
